Ground beef

Posted on April 24, 2026April 24, 2026 by Admin

Ground beef is minced beef made by finely chopping or grinding different cuts of beef. It’s one of the most versatile ingredients used in everyday cooking.

Common uses

  • Burgers and sliders
  • Meatballs and kebabs
  • Bolognese pasta sauce
  • Tacos, burritos, and wraps
  • Stuffed vegetables (like peppers or eggplant)
  • Casseroles and shepherd’s pie

Cooking basics

  • Cook in a hot pan so it browns properly instead of steaming
  • Break it apart with a spatula while cooking for even texture
  • Cook until no pink remains (safe internal temperature: 71°C / 160°F)
  • Drain excess fat if you want a lighter dish

Tips for better flavor

  • Add onions, garlic, salt, and pepper early while browning
  • A splash of soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce boosts umami
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan—cook in batches if needed for better browning

Storage

  • Raw: refrigerate 1–2 days or freeze for 2–3 months
  • Cooked: keep in fridge up to 3–4 days in a sealed container
