Chicken parmesan

Here’s a classic Chicken Parmesan (Chicken Parmigiana)—crispy, cheesy, and baked in rich tomato sauce.


🍗🧀 Chicken Parmesan

Ingredients

Chicken:

  • 2 large chicken breasts (sliced in half horizontally)
  • Salt & black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)

Breading:

  • ½ cup flour
  • 1–2 eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (Italian-style if possible)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional but great)

For frying:

  • Oil (for shallow frying)

Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2–3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (or 3–4 fresh blended tomatoes)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar (balances acidity)
  • 1 tsp oregano or mixed herbs
  • Chili flakes (optional)

Topping:

  • 1–1.5 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • Fresh basil (optional)

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare chicken

Pound chicken lightly so it cooks evenly.
Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

2. Bread it

Set up three bowls:

  • Flour
  • Beaten eggs
  • Breadcrumbs + Parmesan

Coat chicken in:
flour → egg → breadcrumbs


3. Fry

Heat oil in a pan and shallow-fry chicken until golden (about 3–4 min per side).
It doesn’t need to be fully cooked yet—it will finish in the oven.


4. Make sauce

In a pan:

  • Heat olive oil
  • Sauté garlic
  • Add tomatoes, salt, sugar, herbs
  • Simmer 10–15 minutes until thick

5. Assemble

In a baking dish:

  • Spread a little sauce on bottom
  • Add fried chicken
  • Spoon more sauce on top
  • Add mozzarella cheese

6. Bake

Bake at 180°C for 15–20 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.


🍽️ Serve with:

  • Spaghetti or pasta
  • Garlic bread
  • Fresh salad
