🍎 Apple Brownies with Maple Glaze
These are dense, chewy “brownie-style” bars packed with apples, cinnamon, and topped with a sweet maple glaze—more like a cross between apple cake and blondies.
🍏 Ingredients
For the Apple Brownies
- 1/2 cup (115g) butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups apples, peeled & finely chopped (Granny Smith or Fuji work well)
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
🍁 Maple Glaze
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp milk (as needed for consistency)
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Make the batter
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F)
- Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan
- Mix melted butter + brown sugar until smooth
- Add egg + vanilla and whisk well
- Stir in flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt
- Fold in chopped apples (and nuts if using)
2. Bake
- Spread batter evenly in pan
- Bake for 25–30 minutes
- It should be set and lightly golden (a toothpick should come out mostly clean)
3. Make maple glaze
- Mix powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, and milk
- Adjust: add more sugar if thin, more syrup if too thick
4. Finish
- Let brownies cool for 10–15 minutes
- Drizzle maple glaze over the top
- Slice into squares and serve
🍽️ Tips
- Use tart apples for better flavor balance
- Don’t overbake—keeps them fudgy like brownies
- Add a pinch of sea salt on glaze for a bakery-style finish
