A patty melt is basically the love child of a burger and a grilled cheese: juicy beef, melted cheese, and caramelized onions pressed between buttery toasted bread.


🧾 Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread (rye, white, or sourdough)
  • 1 beef patty (or thin burger patty)
  • 2 slices cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or American)
  • 1 small onion (sliced)
  • 1–2 tbsp butter
  • Salt & black pepper
  • Optional: mayo or mustard

👩‍🍳 Method

1. Caramelize onions

  • Melt a little butter in a pan.
  • Cook onions on low heat for 10–15 minutes until golden and soft.

2. Cook the patty

  • Season beef with salt and pepper.
