🧾 Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper (optional)
  • ¼ cup cold butter (cubed)

  • ¾ cup buttermilk (cold)
  • 1 egg (for brushing, optional)

1. Prepare dry mix

  • In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and pepper.

2. Cut in butter

  • Add cold butter cubes.

3. Add cheese

  • Stir in grated cheese evenly.

4. Add buttermilk

  • Pour in buttermilk gradually.
  • Mix gently until a soft dough forms (don’t overmix).

5. Shape the scones
