Here’s a classic meatloaf recipe—soft, juicy, and easy to slice.


🍖 Classic Meatloaf

🧾 Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef (or beef + chicken mix)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped or grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp ketchup (plus more for topping)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional but adds depth)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika or mixed herbs

🍅 Glaze (topping)

  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • 1 tsp mustard (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Mix the base

In a bowl, combine:
meat, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, ketchup, and seasonings.
Mix gently until just combined (don’t overmix or it gets dense).


2. Shape

Form into a loaf shape and place in a baking dish or loaf pan.


3. Add glaze

Mix glaze ingredients and spread on top.


4. Bake

  • Bake at 180°C (350°F)
  • Cook for 45–60 minutes
  • It’s done when the inside reaches no pink and juices run clear

5. Rest & serve

Let it rest 10 minutes before slicing so it holds shape.

  • Steamed vegetables 🥦
  • Rice or dinner rolls 🍞
  • Extra gravy or ketchup on the side

🔥 Tips for best meatloaf

  • Milk + breadcrumbs = softer texture
  • Don’t compact too tightly when shaping
  • Let it rest before cutting (important!)
  • Add grated carrots or bell peppers for extra moisture
