Broccoli cheese patties are crispy, cheesy, and a great way to make veggies actually enjoyable.
Broccoli Cheese Patties
Ingredients
- 2 cups broccoli (finely chopped or lightly steamed & mashed)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar works best)
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or flour)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
- 2 tbsp chopped herbs (parsley or coriander)
- Salt & pepper
- Optional: chili flakes, paprika
Instructions
1. Prep the broccoli
- Steam or boil broccoli for 2–3 minutes until just tender
- Drain well and squeeze out excess water
- Chop finely or mash
2. Mix
In a bowl, combine:
- broccoli
- cheese
- egg
- breadcrumbs
- garlic + herbs
- seasoning
Mix until it holds together. If too soft, add more breadcrumbs.
3. Shape
- Form into small patties (flat rounds work best for even cooking)
4. Cook (your choice)
Pan-fry (best texture)
- Heat a little oil
- Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy
Air fryer
- Temp: 190°C (375°F)
- Time: 10–12 minutes, flip halfway
Oven
- Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 minutes, flipping once
Tips
- Removing moisture from broccoli is key (prevents soggy patties)
- Add a bit of grated potato if you want a softer inside
- Mix in a little parmesan for extra flavor
- Chill patties for 15–20 minutes before cooking to help them hold shape
Serving ideas
- With yogurt garlic dip or ketchup
- In a burger bun as a veggie patty
- As a side with grilled chicken or rice
