Broccoli cheese patties

Broccoli cheese patties are crispy, cheesy, and a great way to make veggies actually enjoyable.


Broccoli Cheese Patties

Ingredients

  • 2 cups broccoli (finely chopped or lightly steamed & mashed)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar works best)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or flour)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
  • 2 tbsp chopped herbs (parsley or coriander)
  • Salt & pepper
  • Optional: chili flakes, paprika

Instructions

1. Prep the broccoli

  • Steam or boil broccoli for 2–3 minutes until just tender
  • Drain well and squeeze out excess water
  • Chop finely or mash

2. Mix

In a bowl, combine:

  • broccoli
  • cheese
  • egg
  • breadcrumbs
  • garlic + herbs
  • seasoning

Mix until it holds together. If too soft, add more breadcrumbs.


3. Shape

  • Form into small patties (flat rounds work best for even cooking)

4. Cook (your choice)

Pan-fry (best texture)

  • Heat a little oil
  • Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy

Air fryer

  • Temp: 190°C (375°F)
  • Time: 10–12 minutes, flip halfway

Oven

  • Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 minutes, flipping once

Tips

  • Removing moisture from broccoli is key (prevents soggy patties)
  • Add a bit of grated potato if you want a softer inside
  • Mix in a little parmesan for extra flavor
  • Chill patties for 15–20 minutes before cooking to help them hold shape

Serving ideas

  • With yogurt garlic dip or ketchup
  • In a burger bun as a veggie patty
  • As a side with grilled chicken or rice
