Posted on April 21, 2026 by Admin

Amish Apple Fritter recipe—crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, packed with cinnamon apples and finished with a sweet glaze.

🍎 Amish Apple Fritters

🧂 Ingredients (10–12 fritters)

For the batter

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Apple filling

  • 2 medium apples (peeled, chopped small)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

For frying

  • Oil (vegetable or canola)

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare apples

  • Mix chopped apples with sugar and cinnamon.
  • Set aside so they slightly soften and release juices.

2. Make batter

  • In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cinnamon.
  • In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients until thick batter forms.

3. Add apples

  • Fold apple mixture into batter gently.

4. Fry fritters

  • Heat oil to 175°C (350°F).
  • Drop spoonfuls of batter into oil (flatten slightly).
  • Fry 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Drain on paper towels.

5. Make glaze

  • Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.

6. Finish

  • Drizzle or dip warm fritters in glaze.
  • Let set for a few minutes before serving.

🍽️ Result

You get crispy, golden fritters with soft apple-cinnamon centers and a sweet vanilla glaze—very similar to traditional Amish bakery-style fritters.

🔥 Tips

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan—fry in batches.
  • Apples like Granny Smith give the best balance of sweet and tart.
  • Serve warm for the best texture.

If you want, I can also show you a baked (not fried) version, a donut-style fritter twist, or a extra crispy bakery shop version.
