If you’re after classic, comforting turkey wings (the kind that come out tender, deeply seasoned, and a little saucy), this is the style most people mean—more slow-baked than crispy.


🍗 Best Classic Turkey Wings (Oven-Baked & Juicy)

Ingredients

  • 2–3 lbs turkey wings (split if large)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp oil or melted butter

Seasoning:

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp thyme
  • ½ tsp poultry seasoning
  • Optional: pinch of cayenne

Instructions

1. Prep

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Pat turkey wings dry.

2. Season generously

  • Rub wings with oil, then coat well with all the spices.

3. Build flavor base

  • Place sliced onions and garlic in a baking dish.
  • Lay wings on top.
  • Pour chicken broth around (not over, so seasoning stays on).

4. Cover & bake (key step)

  • Cover tightly with foil.
  • Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours until very tender.

5. Brown the wings

  • Remove foil.
  • Increase heat to 400°F (200°C).
  • Bake uncovered another 20–30 minutes until nicely browned.

Optional: Make Gravy (highly recommended)

  1. Remove wings and set aside.
  2. Pour pan juices into a pot.
  3. Mix 1–2 tbsp flour with a little water, then whisk into the liquid.
  4. Simmer until thickened into a rich gravy.
  5. Pour over wings.

Tips that make a big difference

  • Turkey wings are tougher than chicken → low & slow = tender
  • Don’t skip covering → locks in moisture
  • Add bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor
