Here’s a simple, comforting way to make cheesy potatoes—creamy, rich, and perfect as a side dish:


🧀 Cheesy Potato Bake

Ingredients:

  • 4–5 medium potatoes (peeled, thinly sliced)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk (or cream for extra richness)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped, optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prep potatoes:
    Slice them thin so they cook evenly.
  2. Make cheese sauce:
    • Melt butter in a pan
    • Add flour and cook 1 minute (this removes raw taste)
    • Slowly whisk in milk
    • Add garlic, onion, salt, pepper
    • Stir until thickened
    • Mix in about 1½ cups cheese until melted
  3. Layer:
    • Grease a baking dish
    • Layer potatoes + sauce
    • Repeat layers
    • Top with remaining cheese
  4. Bake:
    • Cover with foil
    • Bake at 180°C for ~45 minutes
    • Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly

Optional upgrades:

  • Add cooked chicken or minced beef
  • Sprinkle chili flakes for heat
  • Mix in mozzarella for extra stretchiness
