Cinnamon sugar apple dumplings are basically warm baked apples wrapped in buttery pastry, bubbling in cinnamon syrup—crispy outside, soft caramelized apple inside. Super comforting dessert.

🧂 Ingredients

Apple filling:

  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith or any firm variety)
  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp butter (cut into small pieces)

Dough:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought works great)

Cinnamon syrup:

  • 1 cup water

  • 2 tbsp butter

Topping:

1. Prep the apples

  • Peel and core apples
  • Cut each into 4 wedges (or keep whole if using smaller apples)
  • Toss with brown sugar + cinnamon + nutmeg

2. Wrap the dumplings

  • Cut puff pastry into squares
  • Place an apple wedge in each piece
  • Add a small cube of butter on top
  • Fold pastry over and seal edges tightly

3. Make cinnamon syrup

  • In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, cinnamon, butter, and vanilla
  • Heat until sugar dissolves and mixture slightly thickens

4. Assemble

  • Place dumplings in a baking dish
  • Pour hot cinnamon syrup over them (yes, fully cover)
  • Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top

5. Bake

  • Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 35–45 minutes
  • Pastry should be golden and apples tender
  • Spoon syrup over dumplings halfway through baking for extra glaze
