Chicken & potatoes
- 500β700 g chicken (boneless cubes or thigh pieces)
- 4β5 medium potatoes (sliced thin or small cubes)
- 2 tbsp oil or butter
- Salt & black pepper
Creamy sauce
- 2 tbsp butter
- 3β4 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 small onion (optional, finely chopped)
- 1 cup cooking cream (or fresh cream)
- Β½ cup milk
- 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika (optional)
- 1 tsp dried oregano or mixed herbs
- Β½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
- Β½ cup grated cheese (cheddar or mozzarella, optional but recommended)
π¨βπ³ Instructions
1. Prep potatoes
- Slice potatoes thin (or parboil cubes for 5β7 minutes for faster baking)
- Season lightly with salt, pepper, and a little oil
2. Cook chicken lightly
- Heat oil in a pan
- Season chicken with salt and pepper
- Sear for 3β5 minutes until lightly golden (not fully cooked yet)
- Set aside
3. Make creamy sauce
- In the same pan, melt butter
- SautΓ© garlic (and onion if using) until fragrant
- Add cream + milk
- Stir in salt, pepper, paprika, herbs, and chili flakes
- Simmer 2β3 minutes until slightly thickened
- Add cheese if using and mix until smooth
4. Assemble bake
In a baking dish:
- Layer potatoes at the bottom
- Add chicken on top
- Pour creamy sauce evenly over everything
5. Bake
- Cover with foil
- Bake at 180Β°C for 35β40 minutes
- Remove foil, add extra cheese on top (optional)
- Bake another 10β15 minutes until golden and bubbly
