🍞 Basic Homemade Bread (with Active Dry Yeast)

🧂 Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp Fleischmann’s Active Dry Yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp oil or melted butter

1. Activate the yeast

  • Mix warm water + sugar + yeast
  • Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy

2. Make the dough

  • Add flour, salt, and oil
  • Mix until a dough forms
  • Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic

3. First rise

  • Place dough in a greased bowl
  • Cover and let rise 1–1.5 hours until doubled

4. Shape the loaf

  • Punch down dough
  • Shape into a loaf and place in a greased pan

5. Second rise

  • Let rise again 30–45 minutes

6. Bake

  • Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes
  • Top should be golden brown

7. Cool

  • Let rest before slicing for best texture
