🧅 French Onion Meatloaf (Rich, Savory & Juicy)
This meatloaf uses French onion soup flavors to make it extra moist, sweet-savory, and deeply flavorful.
🧾 Ingredients

- 1 packet French onion soup mix
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)

- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
🧅 Topping (optional but recommended)
- 1/2 cup caramelized onions (or sautéed onions)
- 1/4 cup beef broth or water
- 2–3 tbsp ketchup or BBQ sauce
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Mix the meatloaf
- In a large bowl, combine:
ground meat + onion soup mix + eggs + breadcrumbs + milk + garlic + pepper - Mix gently (don’t overwork or it gets dense)
2. Shape & place
- Shape into a loaf
- Place in a baking dish or loaf pan
3. Add topping
- Spread caramelized onions on top
- Brush with ketchup or BBQ sauce
- Add a splash of broth around the loaf for moisture
4. Bake
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F)
- Bake for 50–60 minutes
- Internal temp should reach 70°C (160°F)
5. Rest & serve
- Let it rest 10 minutes before slicing
- This keeps it juicy and firm
🍽️ Best served with
- Mashed potatoes 🥔
- Roasted vegetables 🥕
- Buttered noodles 🍜
💡 Tips
- Onion soup mix already adds salt—don’t over-season
- Milk + breadcrumbs = softer texture
- For extra richness, mix in a little grated cheese
