Garlic butter flatbread is soft, chewy, and full of buttery garlic flavor—perfect as a side for curries, soups, or even as a snack on its own.


🫓 Garlic Butter Flatbread (Easy Homemade)

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp instant yeast (or 1½ tsp if you want faster rise)
  • ¾ cup warm water (add more if needed)
  • 2 tbsp oil or melted butter

Garlic butter topping:

  • 3–4 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 3–5 garlic cloves (finely minced or grated)
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander or parsley (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Make the dough

  • Mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast in a bowl.
  • Add warm water and oil.
  • Knead for 8–10 minutes until soft and smooth.
  • Cover and let it rest for 1 hour (until doubled).

2. Shape the flatbreads

  • Divide dough into small balls.
  • Roll each into a round or oval shape (about ¼ inch thick).

3. Cook

Option A: Pan (best and easiest)

  • Heat a dry pan on medium-high.
  • Cook flatbread 1–2 minutes per side until golden spots appear.

Option B: Oven

  • Bake at 220°C (430°F) for 6–8 minutes.

4. Garlic butter finish

  • Mix melted butter with garlic and a pinch of salt.
  • Brush generously on hot flatbreads.
  • Sprinkle herbs if using.

  • With chicken curry or dal
  • As garlic naan-style side
  • Dipped in yogurt or hummus
  • Or topped with cheese for a quick garlic pizza bread
