pan-fried halloumi cheese.

Posted on April 26, 2026 by Admin

halloumi cheese is a firm, salty cheese that holds its shape when heated, which makes it perfect for pan-frying.

🧀 What is pan-fried halloumi?

Pan-fried halloumi is slices of halloumi cheese cooked in a hot pan until:

  • Golden and crispy on the outside
  • Soft, slightly chewy inside
  • Warm and salty with a rich texture

It doesn’t melt like most cheeses—that’s its special quality.

🔥 How to make it (simple method)

Ingredients

  • Halloumi cheese (block)
  • 1–2 tsp olive oil (optional)

Method

  1. Slice halloumi into ½–1 cm thick pieces
  2. Heat a non-stick pan on medium-high heat
  3. Add a tiny bit of oil (or dry-fry if the pan is good)
  4. Place slices in the pan
  5. Cook 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown
  6. Serve immediately while warm

🍽️ How it’s served

  • In salads (with tomatoes, cucumber, olives)
  • In wraps or pita bread
  • With honey or chili sauce for sweet-spicy contrast
  • As a side dish with grilled vegetables

🌿 Flavor profile

  • Salty
  • Slightly tangy
  • Crispy outside, chewy inside

⚠️ Tips

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan
  • No need for much oil (halloumi already has fat)
