Slow cooker meatballs

Slow cooker meatballs are an easy, hands-off way to get tender, flavorful meatballs that soak up whatever sauce you cook them in—perfect for dinners, sandwiches, or party appetizers.


🥩 Basic ingredients

For the meatballs:

  • Ground beef (or mix of beef + chicken/turkey)
  • Egg
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Garlic (minced)
  • Onion (finely chopped or grated)
  • Salt, pepper
  • Optional: parsley, Italian seasoning, parmesan

For the sauce (choose one):

  • Marinara (classic Italian-style)
  • BBQ sauce (sweet & smoky)
  • Sweet chili or honey garlic (for a sticky glaze)

👨‍🍳 Method

Option 1: Brown first (best flavor)

  1. Mix all meatball ingredients and form small balls.
  2. Lightly brown them in a pan (not fully cooked).
  3. Transfer to slow cooker and pour sauce over.
  4. Cook on low 5–6 hours or high 2–3 hours.

Option 2: No browning (easiest)

  1. Shape raw meatballs and place directly in slow cooker.
  2. Cover with sauce.
  3. Cook same time as above (they’ll still cook through, just less browned flavor).

🍽️ Serving ideas

  • Over spaghetti or rice
  • In sandwiches (meatball subs)
  • As party bites with toothpicks
  • With mashed potatoes

  • Don’t overmix the meat (keeps them tender)
  • Add a splash of milk to the mixture for softness
  • Stir gently so they don’t break apart
  • Use a liner for easy cleanup
