🍢🥩 Breaded & Fried Pork or Veal Skewers (Crispy Meat Skewers)

This is a crispy, golden-skewered meat dish where strips or chunks of pork or veal are breaded and fried until crunchy outside and juicy inside. It’s similar to European “schnitzel-style skewers” or street-style fried kebabs.


🧾 Ingredients (4 servings)

Meat

  • 500–700g pork loin or veal (cut into strips or bite-size chunks)
  • Salt & black pepper

Breading station

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk (optional, for smoother egg wash)
  • 1–1½ cups breadcrumbs (plain or panko for extra crunch)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder

For frying

  • Oil for deep frying or shallow frying

Optional skewers

  • Wooden or metal skewers

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prep the meat

  • Slice pork or veal into even strips or cubes.
  • Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  • Let sit 10–15 minutes.

2. Set up breading

  • Bowl 1: flour + paprika + garlic powder + onion powder
  • Bowl 2: eggs (whisked with milk if using)
  • Bowl 3: breadcrumbs

3. Bread the meat

  • Coat meat in flour → egg → breadcrumbs.
  • Press crumbs firmly so they stick well.

4. Skewer (optional but traditional for presentation)

  • Thread breaded pieces onto skewers.
  • Don’t pack too tightly for even frying.

5. Fry

🍳 Shallow fry (most common)

  • Heat oil in pan over medium heat.
  • Fry skewers or pieces until golden brown (3–5 min per side).

🔥 Deep fry (extra crispy)

  • Fry until fully golden and cooked through (5–7 min total).

6. Drain

  • Place on paper towels to remove excess oil.

🍽️ Serve with

  • Garlic mayo or aioli 🧄
  • Mustard sauce
  • Lemon wedges 🍋
  • Fries or potato salad 🍟🥔
  • Fresh salad 🥗

💡 Tips for best results

  • Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
  • Don’t fry on too high heat or coating will burn before meat cooks.
  • Let meat rest a few minutes before frying for better coating adhesion.
  • If using skewers, soak wooden ones in water first.

  • Italian-style: add Parmesan + herbs to breadcrumbs 🇮🇹
  • Spicy version: chili flakes + cayenne in coating 🌶️
  • Cheese-stuffed skewers: add mozzarella inside meat
