Hearty, cheap, and built to feed a crowd—this is the kind of dish that shows up at family dinners and disappears fast.

  • 3–4 potatoes (peeled, thinly sliced or diced)
  • 1–2 smoked sausages (sliced)
  • 1–1½ cups cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 small onion (optional but recommended)
  • ½ cup milk or cream
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter
  • Salt, black pepper

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Prep potatoes
    • Slice thin so they cook evenly.
    • Parboil 5–7 minutes if you want a softer casserole (optional but helps).
  2. Cook sausage & onion
    • Fry sliced sausage until lightly browned.
    • Add onion and cook until soft.
  3. Layer the casserole
    • Grease a baking dish.
    • Add a layer of potatoes → sausage mix → cheese.
    • Repeat layers.
  4. Add liquid
    • Pour milk/cream over everything (keeps it moist and creamy).
  5. Bake
    • Cover with foil and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 35–45 minutes.
    • Remove foil, add extra cheese on top, bake 10–15 more minutes until golden.
